BOSSGARD is a premium action game for PC developed by Sand Sailor Studio. It's a multiplayer co-op title that supports both local and online gameplay. In it, players will take control of a boss character as they battle against a group of friends to see which one will be victorious.
Similar to Risk of Rain 2 or Monster Hunter Rise, BOSSGARD pits players against tough bosses and enemies that require teamwork to win. What makes it different is that they can also take on the role of the bosses themselves, and be on the opposing side.
One against the many
BOSSGARD is basically a multiplayer boss rush game that supports both online and local gameplay, but with a twist to the established formula. In addition to teaming up with friends to fight bosses, you can also take on the role of one. There are 1v1, 1v3, and 1v5 matchups available, and various character classes for various team combinations. Teamwork and synergizing each one's strengths are key to winning.
If you decide to be on the opposing side, the game features a bizarre cast of bosses ranging from an evil plunger to a cyclops with a slice of bread as a body. To shift things more in your favor, you have access to a variety of special powers, traps, and even minions you can summon, making the ordeal even more punishing for the group of heroes facing you.
What's more, the game has full support for mods, letting the community create custom heroes, bosses, maps, and more—this really does open up replayability and variety even more. While on the same topic, it's a good thing that it embraces community-made content since it was a bit lacking in this aspect. In-game content was limited and did not offer much for you to experience.
Like a boss
BOSSGARD introduces a nice twist to your typical boss rush game by letting you experience what it is like to be on the other side of things. It offers a wacky cast of characters and bosses, multiple game modes, and plenty of fast-paced and punishingly brutal action. Plus, the support for mods is a nice touch and will help make the gameplay engaging for longer.
